Hunza Eats — FAQ
Does Shilajit Boost Testosterone?
Shilajit and testosterone is one of the few Shilajit claims with a genuine, peer-reviewed human clinical trial behind it — so it deserves a proper explanation rather than a vague marketing line.
The Actual Study
Pandit et al. published a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in the journal Andrologia (2016) involving 96 healthy men aged 45 to 55. Participants took 250mg of purified Shilajit twice daily for 90 days. Compared with placebo, the Shilajit group showed a 20.45% increase in total testosterone and a 19.14% increase in free testosterone.

What This Study Does Not Show
The study used ages 45-55, not "40 and above" as a studied threshold — the general "40+" framing common in Shilajit marketing (including some of our own product labelling) reflects the well-established fact that male testosterone begins a gradual age-related decline from the 30s-40s onward, not a specific finding from this trial. We think that distinction matters and would rather state it clearly than let the framing overstate the science.
An Important Dosage Note
This trial used 250mg twice daily (500mg/day) of purified Shilajit. Our Shilajit Choco Bites contain approximately 0.05g (50mg) of Shilajit per bite — a food-format amount, not a clinical dose. We are not claiming our product replicates this study's results; we are sharing the real research that exists on Shilajit as an ingredient.
